Before you begin your workout, warming up is key. Do some stretching before you begin. Stretching out will help your muscles and reduce the pain. Once you are all warmed up, you can begin your workout regimen.

Afterwards, you know to cool yourself down. Stretching and lessor exercises will help tie off your workout for the day. The important thing is to keep active and keep moving. But what if you are disabled and are able to move around so much? Don’t worry, there is plenty of exercise for you if that is the case. You can talk to your doctor and people running your local gym about what you can do and what’s safe for you. Whether you are able-bodied or disabled, you have to make your exercise routine fun. If you find that your choice in routine is boring or not challenging enough, try to find something else until it meets your needs.

Sound and movement do wonders on your body and the time spent. Whatever you choose, just make it fun, doable, safe, and challenging.

Why nutrition is so important

Along with stress management all Olympic athletes need to focus on nutrition. Everyone needs to maintain a healthy diet. This goes double for athletes. They have to consume about 2,000 to 2,500 calories on average. That number can be higher depending on what sport  you are competing in. Think of your food  like fuel and you are the machine. You need that fuel to perform at your best. Let’s look at the different types of “fuel” needed to maximize your body’s performance. What is the most important thing to eat if you are working for competing in the Olympics? The correct answer is fruits and vegetables. This is the best type of “fuel” for your body. The brighter the color, the healthy it is for you. Now, you can prepare these fruits and vegetables to your liking for consumption, just dig into them. Dairy and protein are good for your bones and muscles. Do not gorge yourself with too much grains. If you are doing sports such of lifting weights and running, you will need to increase your protein intake. For one more tip on nutrition, drink plenty of water. You can even have water with your fruits and vegetables.

In this case, relying too much on your stress management regimen can result in you becoming too lazy and forgetting all about your goals. Once you have both sides of the life worked out, you will be well on your way to working out more important details in your plans to achieve your dreams.

Dealing with Stress (Part 1)

We all have stress in our lives. Sometimes it is good like preparing for a wedding or bad like being involved in an accident. The bad type came do serious damage to your health. Luckily, there are ways to counter it. There are four of the best ways to manage stress: play, volunteering, gardening, and yoga. First, there is playing to manage your stress. Some like playing video games to pass the time and calm themselves down from a hectic day. I personally enjoy playing online casino games like the fun slot machine blood suckers when I had a bad day. If video games aren’t your thing, you can play games in the real world too. Just go out and play basketball, field hockey, or whatever sport that you enjoy. You might even pick up a hobby with trying out a new sport. Another option for playing games to kill the stress is games that can stimulate your brain. You can call up a handful of your friends and play cards or a board game. You might even bring back some nostalgia with classic games like Sorry, Monopoly, and the like. You can even get creative and make up your own games just to help you relax.

Another way to manage stress is volunteering. Going out and help those in need can be a rewarding experience. You can help teach English to adults or teach them how to use a computer for an example. It’s very easy to volunteer in your community. You can go online and run a Google search of organizations near you. Looking through the newspaper is another way to look for those in need. You can even go down to your local library or church and ask if they need any help. Volunteering will not only make you feel good about yourself, but you will feel so much more relaxed. You aren’t thinking about yourself when you are helping those in need. Doing volunteer work can increase physical activity in a person who aren’t normally active. Plus, volunteering can take your mind off of a bad day your were having at home or work. You energy and focus goes to helping out someone less fortunate than you are. Along with giving back to community, easing your stress, and bettering your health, you can also meet new people. It is possible that the people you meet can help to inspire you with your own dreams.

A third way to manage your stress is gardening. This alone has many practical benefits. Being outside with nature will help to calm you down. Everyone should get out of their house once in awhile. Gardening may be one way to do so. You can not only grow your own food and herbs, you might be able to learn a little bit about nature around you. Believe it or not, the great outdoors can be beneficial to your health. You don’t even have to have a big garden. If you don’t have the space, go down to your local home improvement store and buy pots. You can set up a garden right on your porch, deck, balcony, or wherever you see fit to place your garden. Plus, plants provide oxygen. Talking to them will not only help your get your problems out, but you will also help the plant to grow by giving them carbon dioxide. One more benefit to taking up gardening as a stress reliever, you will get the satisfaction of making something creative and beautiful. By the end of summer, you will feel proud of yourself for making something beautiful with your own two hands.

One more way to manage your stress is taking up yoga. This type of exercise is very popular with the trendy crowd. However, you can do it too. You don’t have to try and be complex with your exercises. A little research online can help you start off simple. You can find local yoga classes in your area. There are plently of books and DVDs on yoga. So why should you use yoga as a stress reliever? For starters, yoga has three components to it: poses, breathing, and meditation or relaxation. First, let’s look at the poses. Yoga has many poses that are designed to increase strength and flexibility. You can go from lying on the floor to stretching out like a pretzel. The second part to focus on with yoga is the breathing. The trick is controlling your breathing. According to the Mayo Clinic, “yoga teaches that controlling your breathing can help you control your body and quiet your mind”. The final part is key and that is meditation or relaxation. This can be used as a time to disappear into your head and get away from the stress that you had in your day. Just close your eyes and get lost in your thoughts.

Finding My Olympic Soul

AquaticoMy name is Ollie and here is my story. I work as an accountant during the day. In my spare time, I work out at the gym and volunteer in my community. However, I have a big ambition. I wanted to become an Olympic swimmer and be the next Michael Phelps. But all of those hopes were dashed when I became involved in an accident a few years ago. Doctors told me that I would never swim again. Initially, I wanted to give up on life and feel sorry for myself. Nothing seemed to reach like it did when I first dove into that cool water in the pool. Then I realized that that wasn’t working out for me. I couldn’t just waste the rest of my life sitting around moping and wondering what could have been. Maybe there was still hope for me. Something inside of me wouldn’t let me give up so easily. Maybe I couldn’t become the next Michael Phelps, but there was still a chance that I could make it to the tryouts. So, I decided to hunkered down and started using my training to better myself.

Today, I am still working to meet my goal of becoming an Olympic swimmer. However, my life isn’t always about swimming or staying at the top of my game. When I’m not working at my accounting job, exercising at the gym, or volunteering, I’m playing at online casinos like the mr green casino to manage my stress. Playing with the cards at the online blackjack table just soothes me when I had a bad day at work. Why am I telling you my story? My goal is to inspire Olympic athletes just like you and I. Just because you suffer from an injury, things don’t go as planned, or personal change happens doesn’t mean that you have to abandon your dreams altogether. When things change and your goals are pushed further away from you, you can either sit around and pity yourself or you can stand up and keep trying until you have reached your goals. You might have to make adjustments to your plans, but you can still reach your goals. I want to share with you a few useful tips that will help you through any rough patch you may encounter while following your dreams. I will guide you through how to manage stress, the diet of an Olympic athlete, and working out at the gym like a champion.
